Who is Dinah?

Hi there,

You're here for a reason, and it goes far beyond just visiting my site.

Let me share with you the passion and determination that led me to this very point. My life story has been anything but ordinary.

Growing up in an abusive and dysfunctional family where heavy drinking, selfishness, and relentless criticism were common, I became familiar with what it was like to live in survival mode due to the environment of my childhood. My tendency to overachieve and my fixation with what other people thought of me caused me to become stuck in a dysfunctional cycle that kept repeating itself.

As I entered adulthood, I became conditioned to be emotionally unavailable. This was a result of suppressing feelings of shame, resentment, and a deep-seated fear of vulnerability, all stemming from previous encounters with manipulation and control. Isolation became my default as social anxiety took hold, leading to superficial friendships built upon shared tendencies for gossip and snark.

The negative stigma around seeking help only fueled my sense of being lost and broken. Carrying the weight of trauma in every aspect of my life, I developed tendencies towards perfectionism and people-pleasing. Despite my outwardly "normal" appearance, anxiety and depression were constant companions, and toxic relationships felt all too familiar.

Over time, I turned to various coping mechanisms like alcohol, cannabis, or busyness—anything to numb the pain and fear. They seemed to work, until they didn't.

Then something clicked.

I realized that healing demanded two essential elements:

Awareness and Accountability.

I often joke that it's the other AA, as both can initiate profound transformations.  Once I became more self aware, I started asking myself, "How much do I truly desire change?" and, more importantly, "What am I going to do about it?" With newfound clarity, I owned up to the consequences of my past choices and bravely set foot on a fresh path.

I realized the importance of self care and how crucial it was to maintaining integrity with myself. The idea of boundaries was another thing I discovered. This realization led me to break free from the conditioning that had held me captive, enabling me to shed the weight of emotionally draining relationships and embrace a path where I prioritize my own well-being and serve others in a healthier, more balanced way.
